Situated on the bustling Moorabbin airport, The Aviation Centre's Moorabbin branch is right in the middle of what is considered to be one of the busiest airports in the Southern Hemisphere. We are conveniently located close to many major aviation service and parts providers such as:
Our Moorabbin branch is equipped to provide the following services; maintaining not only your aircraft, but also a speedy turn around time:
The Aviation Centre Moorabbin services five flying schools based at Moorabbin and Bacchus Marsh:
As well as maintaining a fleet of Navajo Chieftain's for Tasfast Airfreight and a privately owned Cessna Citation S550 and Citation 560 XLS.
No matter what size, type, age or category your aircraft is, The Aviation Centre Moorabbin can maintain it quickly, professionally and cost effectively.

The compliance dates for Cessna Supplemental Inspection Documents (SID's) are fast approaching. Depending on the series of your aircraft, SID's compliance dates start as early as December 31 2014 and at the latest June 30 2016. CASA Airworthiness Bulletin AWB02-048 contains explanatory information regarding compliance with Cessna SID's, such as:
“The SIDs programs, successively developed by Cessna for all 400, 300, 200 and 100 series aircraft, provide an inspection regime to ensure the structural integrity of the airframe is maintained. These supplemental inspections complement those inspections undertaken during existing scheduled maintenance activities, as the failure of such PSEs (principal structural elements) could result in catastrophic loss of the aircraft.”
Additionally;
“The requirement to undertake the Cessna SIDs applies irrespective of the category of operation or the elected maintenance schedule for the aircraft, be it:
• CAR 42A Manufacturer’s Maintenance Schedule,
• CAR 42B CASA Maintenance Schedule (Schedule 5), or
• CAR 42C Approved System of Maintenance.”
Our experienced engineering staff have been carrying out SID's inspections across a range of different model Cessna's with great competence and efficiency. Our supervising staff will walk you through the inspection process and explain in detail what is required and what work will be carried out on your aircraft. You will be regularly updated on the progress of the inspections and alerted immediately in the event of a major defect being detected.
To ensure compliance with Cessna SID's requirements and the continued safety and airworthiness of your aircraft, or if you have any questions please contact us.
The Aviation Centre Moorabbin is able to perform minor repairs and modifications, such as simple patch skin repairs, baffle repairs and manufacture of smaller replacement parts. After manufacture of your repair/modification we have the facilities to ensure your parts are fully protected against the elements by applying Alodine(R) and a coat of paint. Larger tasks may be referred to our Tyabb branch for heavy maintenance.
Whatever make or model your aircraft; whether it be fabric covered, composite or full metal construction; piston engine or turbine, your aircraft will be inspected and serviced professionally by our experienced technicians. Care will be taken to ensure your aircraft is safe and serviceable through to your next scheduled maintenance check and beyond.
Corrosion is considered the number one enemy of aircraft around the world. The costs of removing, treating and often repair or replacement of parts due to corrosion can rapidly become very expensive if not found and rectified in its early stages. In most cases the best cure for corrosion is prevention.
To protect your aircraft from corrosion formation as much as possible, have The Aviation Centre spray the internal structure of your aircraft with an approved Anti Corrosion Formula (we recommend ACF-50).
To view more information on ACF-50 you can visit the ACF-50 website.
Have it professionally removed by our trained staff before it becomes a dangerous and not to mention costly situation.
We can remove harmful corrosion in situ or on removed components depending on what the situation demands. After corrosion removal, the surface will be treated to ensure all of the corrosion has been neutralised before being given a protective chemical treatment (Alodine®) and finally painted.
Do not delay removing corrosion, as active corrosion does not go away, it will only get worse leading to greater material loss, greater costs (including possible replacement of damaged parts) and greater danger of parts becoming weak and potentially failing.
If you have any further enquiries regarding any of the above services, please contact us.
