Welcome to The Aviation Centre, the one stop centre for aircraft maintenance Australia and Cessna SID's inspections Australia.
The Aviation Centre was first established in 1989 and has since earned a reputation for high quality services including aircraft maintenance, engine overhaul and fuel system maintenance. We also work in conjunction with industry safety regulators providing technical assistance and facilities for air crash investigations.
We have two branches in Victoria; our Tyabb branch based at Western Port Airfield and our Moorabbin branch based at Moorabbin Airport. Between the two facilities we staff more than a dozen aircraft maintenance engineers - consisting of six licensed engineers - ensuring a well rounded pool of knowledge and experience.
At The Aviation Centre we service a diverse range of aircraft, from ultralights such as Gazelles', Jabiru's and Tec-nam's; to Cessna Grand Caravans, Citation S550's and XLS's. Practically any make or model of aircraft, piston engine or turbine powered can be serviced professionally by our friendly staff.
As well as aircraft maintenance The Aviation Centre has an engine overhaul shop (including our new state of the art test cell) and a fuel system overhaul facility (the only one currently in Victoria), ensuring we can rectify any issues that may arise during servicing without having to send most components away.
We are also proud to announce we have recently been selected as the official Victorian Service Centre for Rotax engines! Visit www.bertfloodimports.com.au for more information or see our "Rotax" tab above.
In addition to Rotax we have been selected as the Australian service and support centre for all AVStar fuel system components! This means no more shipping to USA and long lead times for Australian customers! Contact AVStar www.avstardirect.com to report an issue and follow their instructions. You can also view our "AVStar" tab above for more information about their products.
The compliance dates for Cessna Supplemental Inspection Documents (SID's) are fast approaching. Depending on the series of your aircraft, SID's compliance dates start as early as December 31 2014 and at the latest June 30 2016. CASA Airworthiness Bulletin AWB02-048 contains explanatory information regarding compliance with Cessna SID's, such as:
“The SIDs programs, successively developed by Cessna for all 400, 300, 200 and 100 series aircraft, provide an inspection regime to ensure the structural integrity of the airframe is maintained. These supplemental inspections complement those inspections undertaken during existing scheduled maintenance activities, as the failure of such PSEs (principal structural elements) could result in catastrophic loss of the aircraft.”
Additionally;
“The requirement to undertake the Cessna SIDs applies irrespective of the category of operation or the elected maintenance schedule for the aircraft, be it:
• CAR 42A Manufacturer’s Maintenance Schedule,
• CAR 42B CASA Maintenance Schedule (Schedule 5), or
• CAR 42C Approved System of Maintenance.”
Our experienced engineering staff have been carrying out SID's inspections across a range of different model Cessna's with great competence and efficiency. Our supervising staff will walk you through the inspection process and explain in detail what is required and what work will be carried out on your aircraft. You will be regularly updated on the progress of the inspections and alerted immediately in the event of a major defect being detected.
To ensure compliance with Cessna SID's requirements and the continued safety and airworthiness of your aircraft, or if you have any questions please contact us.
